Sam received her PhD in Microbiology from Penn State studying regulation of gene expression by signaling molecules. She received her postdoctoral training with Dr. Richard Gourse at the University of Wisconsin, where she discovered and elucidated a fine-tuning role for small proteins from bacteria and bacteriophages in modulating RNA polymerase structure and function. She worked as a Scientific Project Specialist before moving to San Francisco and joining non-profit ventures, rescuing senior dogs for eventual adoption, and organizing scientific conferences for the Bay area Biotech industry. She now joins the AViDD group at UCSF where she hopes to utilize her scientific and management skills to further the goals of the research program.
Sam shares more about her background and role as the Scientific Project Manager for QCRG AViDD in the QBI TV Series, "60 Seconds: A QCRG Minute".
